Knives are the earliest tools invented by mankind, and even now there are many different types for different uses. We all want one knife that can be handled for all situations is called One Tool Option. The technique requires“hardware” equipment with “software” skills. As a user, you need to improve your skills, while as a designer, you need to focus on the design of the hardware.

Tactical Knife:

Hunting knives were first launched and then survival knives and military knives came next in the last century. With the US military’s involvement in the Middle East war and anti-terrorism activity, the thinking and concept of tactical knives gradually came into being until the 1990s.

The Design of Tactical Knives:

  1. Full Tang Design:Tactical knives are closer to a cutting pry bar and need to be rougher than survival knives in order to cope with tasks on a battlefield and urban environment.
  2. Thicker Blade:The stronger version of a pry bar. As for tactical knives, it is mainly for damage and second for cutting.
  3. The handle should not only require the ability of fire, chemicals, and electricity resistance but also maintain its great quality. Tactical knives were originally designed for rough use. The knife and blade without defense capabilities will be Tacticool Knife instead of Tactical Knife.

Tactical Folder:

In the mid of the 1990s, tactical folding knives were all the rage in the United States. In the late Desert Storm, the U.S. military suggested that soldiers and officials participating in the war should carry tactical folding knives as self-defense weapons instead of fixed-blade knives. American handmade knife makers and factories noticed the demand in the market and began to invest a lot of energy in the production of tactical folding knives.

Tactical folding knives have evolved over the decades. It evolved into the fighting knife and the combat knife. The very first military knife was a saber Ames Rifleman's Knife, made by Ames Mfg. Co. in 1849. The most admired and well-known tactical knife is MK 2 which is so-called“Ka-Bar.”Those knives are all classic in the history of knives.

The Design of Tactical Folding Knives:

  1. One-hand opening.
  2. Including the clip. The first one-hand opening knife which was launched by Spyderco in 1979 designed by the Worker. It was also the first documented folding knife with a back clip on the knife. The most user-friendly place is the "SpyderHole" which is designed by Spyderco President Sal Glesser, and the locking mechanism is the Front Lock developed by Al Mar and McBurnett. The Liner Lock commonly used today was designed and improved by Michel Walker.

The first tactical folding knife should be Spyderco Worker! However, there was no one on this side. Because there were few folding knives at that time, people only thought of Worker as“Sports Car” since the speed of the opening of this knife is the fastest.

The predecessor of the tactical pocket knife is the military pocket knife. Soldiers in the Roman Empire carried folding knives for cutting food or general work. With the change in the form of the battlefield and the transformation of tactical thinking, the skill and locking system of the folding knives have continuously been updated and gradually formed the concept of the current "tactical folding knife."

Tactical Folding Knives Should Be / Have:

  1. One-hand opening easily (whether with right or left hand).
  2. Strong and steady locking system.
  3. Clip to be easily accessible.
  4. Clip point, Drop point, Spear point, Tanto Point for the knife shapes.
  5. Reasonable price.
  6. The chemical resistance handle.
  7. The paracord with the knife in case some difficult situation.
  8. At least 3”length of the blade.
